About the Author

I consider myself to be a very ambitious person. Early in life, my career goals were my main priority. My professional portfolio consists of over 20 years of industry experience in sales and marketing. I also have over ten years of experience in education, consulting, training, and management. I earned a BFA in Fashion Marketing/Design and an MBA in Marketing. I decided to pursue a career in education after I realized my desire to mentor high school students, so I earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Curriculum/Instruction. Today, I am a full-time high school business teacher and own two small businesses.

​After I found love and felt that I had achieved my career aspirations, I wanted to pursue a major milestone in life - have a baby. I had a beautiful baby girl whom I adore! After experiencing pregnancy and struggles with anxiety, I made the decision to not have another child. There are days when I look at my little girl and wonder if she will resent me for making the decision to not give her a sibling. Although I have those moments, I know it was the right decision for my family. I named my daughter Journey to mark my journey to motherhood. The anchor in my logo symbolizes hope, resilience, and stability which is what I feel when I look at her. ​

As a proud parent of an 'only' it was a challenge to find books for my daughter that told stories from an only child's persepctive, which is why I felt the need to write. My life, family, and friends truly inspire my book topics. I hope you enjoy! ​

Welcome to My Journey Publications, LLC! My name is Dr. LaSheena McAfee Simpson and I refer to myself as a "Teacherpreneur". I am a full-time business education teacher and I own two small businesses. I have a beautiful daughter named Journey, who has motivated me to pursue my dream of publishing books.
